Beauty & the Briefcase #3

That neon though…

It may be hard to believe since, I wear so many neutrals, but neon pink has actually been my favorite color since childhood. It also may be hard to believe because I am a shopaholic, but I am actually a total cheapskate. The outfit you see here is literally a marriage between my frugality and my favorite color.

I shopped around the Gap, clutching my reduced-price skirt in my arms.  The heavens opened and a light from above shone down on a rack of neon pink button ups. As I approached the rack, the heavens closed back up and the light disappeared… I saw that if I wanted to purchase the shirt, I would have to pay *whispers* full price.

I screamed internally, but knew in my heart of hearts that I could not purchase one piece without the other. Obviously, I bought the shirt.

A more successful story is attached to my Barbie-status shoes, however. At H&M one day, while shopping for a Halloween costume, I came across these fabulous shoes. They sat alone on a dusty shelf without a price tag. I wanted to take them home like a cute puppy. I brought them over to the counter and was told by the sales associate that they were $5. Hearing this news was the equivalent of finding out that I had just won a big fat check from Publisher’s Clearing House.

The skirt, the shirt, and the shoes were the perfect ingredients for an exciting outfit. I am reminded that work clothes don’t have to be boring. They don’t have to be neon pink, but they certainly don’t have to be boring.
