There’s this pounding in my chest
As I try to catch my breath,
Hoping for a moment of rest.
How do I escape this noise?
Tired of looking for life’s joys,
Empty words in these envois.
I wonder of what could be,
Dream of possibilities,
Blinded to reality.
Lost in your emerald eyes,
Floating in these murky isles,
I think I’ll stay for a while.
Wish I could escape the pain,
But the memories remain.
As the night begins to wane,
I let drowning take over,
Swallow and drag me under.
Numb, so I don’t remember.
I'll move on and let you go,
Away from the undertow,
But that will be for tomorrow.
