Student Org. Saturdays | Student Activities Board

One of the several student organizations here on campus is the Student Activities Board, more commonly known as SAB. SAB strives to serve students at Regent by hosting a wide variety of events so that everyone feels like they can go to something to have a great time.

SAB is for Christ and for the students. They host several events on campus, all while glorifying God and serving the needs of students.

Eliza Cortez, Sierra Torrance, Colin Jones, Audrey Hess, Nathaniel Davis, Ashley turner, and Fola Soluade.

There are five committees that makeup SAB; entertainment, traditions, international education and culture, recreational sports, and marketing. These five committees host at least three events each semester.

Ashley Turner has been a part of SAB since her Freshman year and currently serves as President.

“SAB was the first student organization I heard of,” Turner says. “It seemed like pure fun and a place to take a break from stress and the new ‘adulting’ life.”

According to Turner, SAB’s main goals are simple; there are a “wide variety of events so everyone feels like they can go to something, all while glorifying God. All these events mostly celebrate what makes Regent Regent.” One of her favorite events this semester was the game night held during welcome week, and her overall favorite is the Sadie Hawkins dance.

Sierra Torrance has also been a part of SAB since her freshman year and currently serves on the executive board and as the traditions committee leader.

“I have a lot of pride in being in SAB, especially this year getting to be a part of this revival for SAB,” Torrance said. “The past two years we had a little bit of decline in membership and presence, so we’re so blessed to have Ashley and Hayden sphere heading this revival for SAB. I’m very proud to be able to say I’m on SAB, I’ve been on SAB my whole college experience so far.”

On Nov. 1, SAB held a costume party that turned out successful. It was hosted after a year of taking a break, so it was great to see how successful it turned out, Turner mentions.

The week of Nov. 4-8, SAB hosted Spirit Week, which included a week full of events that students got to come out to and celebrate Regent. The following week began with Culture in the commons on Nov. 10.

SAB is a welcoming environment for everyone, a place where you meet people who become like family, who all have the joy of serving together and the joy to serve people who they love. SAB is welcoming and encourages anyone interested in becoming a member to apply.

They will be accepting new members at the beginning of the second semester, so keep up with their social media pages for more information when the time approaches.

SAB has put on several events on campus so far such as a game night during welcome week, the Color Run, Party at the O, Harvest Festival, Costume Party, and Spirit Week.

Stay tuned for more upcoming events as this semester slowly comes to an end. SAB will be hosting the Pancake Feast on Dec. 5 (Santa will be there) and the Christmas Ball on Dec. 14. They also have a Dress Drive going on, so feel free to either pick up a dress for only $5 or donate one to get $5 off your ticket! This year the dress drive will also be donating and accepting formal attire for men.

For more information on the dress drive, email siertor@mail.regent.edu and for information on any of these events, follow SAB on their social media pages.
