VA Beach coffee shops to try in the New Year

This time of year, hopefully you’ve had your fill of turkey stuffing, eggnog, and holiday casseroles while enjoying fellowship with friends and family. We have a few must-try coffee (and non-coffee!) beverages to try from local cafés in the Hampton Roads area to kick off your new year – and provide some caffeine power for another semester at school!

If you’ve already tried these beverages, let us know what you thought, and share your favorite local coffee shops and beverages in the comments!

Gather Café – Butterscotch Latte

Even for a non-coffee enthusiast, this is a simple yet delicious beverage to try!  The Butterscotch Latte from Gather Café located in Chesapeake, VA, is the perfect warm beverage for a long day of writing the next chapter of your fantasy novel or chatting with friends while you work on homework.  This drink has a surprisingly delicious taste with hints of butterscotch and a subtle espresso aftertaste. The visual presentation of this latte is stellar, and Gather offers a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy this warm beverage.

Cold Pressed Coffee and Juicery – White Chocolate Toffee Latte

Next, travel west, to Cold Pressed Coffee and Juicery located in both Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia. Cold Pressed started as a juice stand in the corner of a shop and has grown into a thriving café offering organic menu items that cater to various healthy lifestyles. Cold Pressed offers a relaxing environment from its busy urban surroundings. The next time you’re looking to explore something new, try their White Chocolate Toffee Latte. This latte features a very smooth toffee and butterscotch aftertaste with subtle notes of chocolate and espresso. This quiet, relaxing café located within a bustling, commercial environment presents an inviting atmosphere for you and your friends.

CURE Coffeehouse – Chai Latte

The next beverage to try is CURE’s Chai Latte. CURE Coffeehouse, located in Norfolk, Virginia, offers a wide selection of Counter Culture Coffee roasted locally in North Carolina as well as various brunch items to pair with their drink selection. There is something simple and ordinary about a chai, but deliciously unique about the way CURE crafts this classic that stands above the rest. This drink has a wonderful taste of spiced tea and cinnamon with a delightful peppery aftertaste. CURE offers an inviting atmosphere for a quick enjoyable brunch with family and friends or a quiet place to get some work done.

Roast Rider Coffee + Tea – Caramel and Hazelnut Latte

Next on the list, travel east for an exciting morning cup of specialty coffee or tea from Roast Rider Coffee + Tea located in the Hilltop Shopping Center. This café features a delightful blend of signature crafted third-wave coffee. The friendly staff will brighten your morning and are not afraid to offer their own favorite beverage suggestions. If you’re looking to try Roast Rider’s delicious in-house, homemade flavorings, try their Caramel and Hazelnut Latte. The homemade caramel and hazelnut flavors pair nicely in this simple latte. Feel free to mix the flavorings to see what you might enjoy best! This righteous drink also pairs nicely with the atmosphere for light conversations or quick work to be done. Roast Rider offers an exemplary coffee selection when seeking a morning refuge.

Café Moka – Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

Regent’s own Café Moka is the go-to place on-campus for convenient hand-brewed light roast and fruit-forward coffee.  Their Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate is a delicious alternative if you’re not a coffee fan, but it would probably taste great with a shot or two of espresso to get your caffeine fix. The beverage features a salty aftertaste that balances well with the chocolate-caramel flavors. Order this to-go as you walk to class or enjoy drinking while in Regent’s Student Center.
