“One of the main ways I express myself is through dance. I dance to preform and to express emotion, but more specifically to tell stories. Stories people can relate to. My personal style is more of a mixture between urban and modern, since they are less restrained by technique. So, more hip-hop with contemporary and modern dance influences. So yeah, that is my personal style that I am creating. I haven’t named it yet, but I would like to eventually. In the end I really love inspiring people, especially those who dance. I aim to inspire not only through my performances, but through teaching as well. I teach three levels of hip-hop at Academie De Ballet. And through that I found that I like performing, but teaching is truly my passion. There is no greater feeling than pushing my students to the next level, and watching them grow.” – Joél
