Week 10 NFL Recap

The NFL regular season is now over halfway finished as week ten of eighteen was just completed. This is the point in the season where the strong teams truly begin proving themselves and the weaker teams fade; it’s a defining time for teams as they attempt to build momentum for the playoffs. There was a lot of action this past week, including two star players who found new teams and several games with upsets.

Cam Newton Returns to the Panthers

The first player who found a “new team” was Cam Newton, who returned to Charlotte after leaving the team at the end of the 2019 season. He joined the Patriots in 2020, where he struggled and was eventually cut from the team. Earlier this week, it was announced that Cam would return to the Panthers, and he had an incredible homecoming performance against the Arizona Cardinals. His first two touches resulted in touchdowns after coming off the bench for the team. He only completed three out of four passes and rushed the ball for fourteen yards, but those two touchdowns clearly stated that he is back and ready to lead the Panthers to a hopeful playoff entry. The 4-5 Panthers would go on to beat the 8-1 Cardinals for one of the many upsets this week.

Another surprise this week was when Odell Beckham Jr. signed with the LA Rams. He was cut from the Cleveland Browns the week before because he and Baker Mayfield were not connecting well. He now joins a team where Matthew Stafford is finally able to display his talent on a winning roster, and OBJ knows he is going to get the ball. Monday night (11/15) was his debut for the Rams, who were 7-2 going into the game, and it could not have gone worse for the entire team. They lost to the 3-5 49ers 31-10, and OBJ only had two receptions for eighteen yards. It will be interesting to see if he can fit in with this Rams team and contribute to a deep playoff run.

Upsets in Week Ten

I already mentioned two upsets this week, with the Panthers defeating the Cardinals and the 49ers beating the Rams, but that’s not where the excitement ended. On Thursday (11/11), the 2-7 Miami Dolphins shockingly beat the 6-2 Baltimore Ravens 22-10. Then  Sunday (11/14), the 5-3 Pittsburgh Steelers let the 0-8 Detroit Lions tie them in overtime. That game was full of mistakes where each team could have won the game, but there were several fumbles and turnovers that cost both teams a chance to win. Also on Sunday, the Washington Football team was able to defeat Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 29-19. One team that played fantastic was the Kansas City Chiefs, who beat the Oakland Raiders 41-14. After a slow start, the Chiefs may have found some chemistry that could lead them to their third straight Super Bowl.

Week ten provided a lot of action and surprises for NFL fans. As we head into week eleven, some key games to watch include the Green Bay Packers vs the Minnesota Vikings, the Washington Football Team vs the Carolina Panthers, and the Dallas Cowboys vs the Kansas City Chiefs. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the NFL season!
