Kelcey’s Countdown to Graduation – 4 weeks
April 10, 2010 by Kelcey Bridges · 3 Comments
Four weeks left until I face the real world, and I’d like to pose this question to you: Why do we always wish our lives away? As children, we wish to be teenagers. As teenagers, we wish to move away and be independent young adults. As young adults, we wish to be snappy career men and women. Why, God, why are we never satisfied?
Aye there’s the rub.
With 4 weeks left of this so-called “best time of your life” a.k.a “college,” I find myself questioning if I truly enjoyed simply being a student. But in the midst of mid-terms, finals and math class – who can think happy thoughts? I’d say that during my first two years of college I genuinely enjoyed living the typical college life. Pah – whatever that means.
But boy oh boy, have the last two years of college been totally different. Responsibilities came into play, and suddenly I wasn’t able to sleep in until noon everyday (travesty). Suddenly the shadow of the real world was heavy on my shoulders, and I spent my time lusting after the thought of working a full-time 9-5, wearing three inch heels for eight hours straight and taking an elevator up to my office cube.
What happened? Why the shift?
Simply put, life changes. And thank God for that. It has to change. Change brings out the best in us. Let me tell you something – if you spend all four years of college living like a care-free, giggly hobo – you’ll be in for a rude awakening when your collegiate days are up. In truth, it’s better for you to begin the natural shift from immature bozo to adult sooner rather than later. Your future will thank you.

My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!
